What is Reiki?

Reiki is a Japanese energy healing technique where a practitioner channels "universal life force energy" (Rei-Ki) through their hands, either lightly touching or hovering over a person, to promote deep relaxation, reduce stress, and support the body's natural healing by clearing energy blocks and balancing the system. During a session, you might feel warmth, tingling, or deep calm, though sensations vary; it's non-invasive and often used alongside conventional medicine, though scientific evidence for specific cures is limited, it's recognized for its calming, complementary effects. 

How does Reiki work


  • Energy Flow: The core belief is that life energy ('Ki') flows through us via pathways like chakras and meridians. 
  • Blockages: Negative thoughts or feelings can disrupt this flow, causing diminished function. 
  • Rebalancing: A practitioner acts as a conduit, channeling positive energy to break down blockages, raise vibrational levels, and restore balance, helping the body heal itself. 

What Happens During a Session

  • Setting: Often quiet with dim lights and music; you lie down, usually clothed. 
  • Hand Positions: The practitioner places hands gently on or just above the body, moving from head to feet, holding positions for several minutes. 
  • Sensations: You might feel warmth, tingling, coolness, or deep relaxation; some people fall asleep or enter a meditative state, while others feel nothing. 
  • Aftercare: Drink water and rest to integrate the benefits; avoid stress.
